bread baking 101

today i am attempting bread. i have decided to start with the basic white loaf for the so-called "first try". this is another trreat that i have been meaning to bake but was misld into thinking that it takes a long time to make. this is just not the case. i got up at 8:00 to give myself lots of time to make the breads, but the real |long" parts of the bread making process were the 2 raising times which lasted for approx 2.5 hours 10 minutes mixing, 10 minutes kneading, and 10 minutes shaping loaves is all there is in terms of work.

once all the dry goods are sifted and mixed into the bowl, the warm milk, water, and yeast and mixed together with some oil and added to the dry mixture! the easiest way of doing this is by alternating between dry and wet ingrediants and kneading in the last 1/2 cup of flour as you start the 10 minute kneading process. i let it raise the first time with a bit of hope that the yeast would do its thing. i left it in the bowl and the dough doubled the bowl size. pretty neat to see.

i made one loaf, 18 cloverleaf rolls, and 9 pan rolls... it tasted delicious
